Camponotus sansabeanus – The Amber Beauty of the USA

Exclusive foundation (Queen swarming 2025 + 1 to 3 workers + brood).

🐜 The rare breed for patient breeders

Camponotus sansabeanus is a true gem native to the northern United States. Nicknamed the "caramel" Camponotus for its warm, translucent hues, it is one of the most elegant species to observe under a magnifying glass. It is a calm, almost noble species that requires tranquility and regularity.

My opinion: I prefer to be honest: the Sansabeanus is a species that requires some effort to establish itself. It's a shy species that takes its time to settle in. But what a pleasure it is to see the first caramel-colored workers tending to the queen! If you're looking for a rewarding species that demands real expertise as a keeper, this is it. My advice: place them in a location completely free of vibrations to encourage egg-laying.

📋 Maintenance sheet (The challenge)

  • Difficulty: High (Recommended for experienced or very patient breeders).
  • Character: Very shy and calm. Requires little handling.
  • Advantage: A unique honey/caramel colour and an impressive size for the queen.

🛠️ Detailed breeding parameters
